Seminar with Robert Zimmermann Shihan
I had the pleasure of visiting Sand Drift Aikikai (for the first time) over the weekend to attend a seminar with Robert Zimmerman Shihan of the Toronto Aikikai. While Sand Drift hosted the seminar, Grady Lane sensei of the Brevard Aikikai was hosting Zimmermann sensei.
Zimmerman sensei was very gracious and was a great teacher. While I could only attend the Saturday morning session, the event was well attended and the energy on the mat was very high. Sensei taught seven (yes, seven) different variations of morote-dori tenchi-nage. While the variations mostly involved movements to the front and back (omote and ura) with some adding variations of tenkan and irimi, some of Sensei's main points were to move from the hips and keep your movements in front of you at all times.
In addition to getting some great practice, I also got a chance to meet some new faces, as well as to see some familiar ones. Overall, the event was a success and I would encourage you to visit the Sand Drift Dojo, the Brevard Aikikai, and to check out Zimmerman sensei if you ever get the opportunity.

Thank you Zimmerman sensei, Sand Drift Dojo, and Grady Lane sensei!
